2012-2013 COLORADO SPRINGS SCHOLASTIC CHESS SERIES

We are delighted to announce the schedule for the 2012-2013 Colorado Springs Scholastic Chess Series (CSSCS). The 2012-2013 season will be our eleventh season and we have many exciting features and prizes. Join us and play as we celebrate the start of our "Second Decade" Season.

HERE'S WHATS HAPPENING FOR THE 2012-2013 CSSCS:

1.) We are very pleased to announce the same the location for our eleventh season. Once again, our location for the series is THE GRACE PLACE, 2403 Templeton Gap Rd. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80907. This church facility is a very youth friendly environment with many amenities. The playing area is quiet with very comfortable chairs. The "skittles" rooms are downstairs, with many amenities.

2.) New for 2012-2013 will be Rated players grouped by Rating, rather than grade. All too often, wide spreads in ratings among age groups create ratings mismatches. These mismatches are often disliked by BOTH the higher, and lower rated players. Class events are HIGHLY popular in Europe and ensure all rounds are competitive and exciting.

3.) New for 2012-2013, prizes for rated players may include trophies, cash or merchandise.

4.) Events #1.. #3... #5...will feature TEAM TROPHIES.

5.) Concessions will be made available on site by Meri Katz. Last season's concessions brought rave reviews and included Soups……burritos……lasagna….crab salad, and much more.

5.) One or two events per year will be declared a "bragging rights" event, with an added "prize" or two in each division.

6) Look for fun special contests, such as hat day, T-shirt day etc. With prizes of course!!
